AleSmith Weizenbock is a strong, German-style wheat beer. Traditionally, Bock beers are made with a lager yeast (bottom-fermented) and fermentation is done at cool temperatures. In order to get the complex and spicy characteristics of a wheat beer, a unique German ale yeast (top fermenting) is used at much warmer temperatures. AleSmith Weizenbock is a pale, golden color, and like a bottom-fermented bock, has a high starting gravity and high alcohol content. The smooth, malty sweetness of a Weizenbock is balanced with clove, honey and fruit-like flavors. A touch of honey is also perceivable in the nose to produce a unique and complex aroma. It has a medium to full body and mouthfeel. The wheat adds a subtle tartness, which makes for quite a quenching and refreshing beer.
