  • Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale was first brewed in Nova Scotia in 1820 and is now the region's most popular beer. A full flavoured, fully fermented ale, it is mellow aged for smoothness. Alexander Keith's has a unique malty taste, a slightly floral hop character.
India Pale Ale, is light in color and hopped in flavor. Only the lightest and finest barleys, giving a pale malt, are used while the amount of hops are increased so as to give a pronounced hop flavor, all in a water somewhat "harder" than that used for mild ales and stouts.
India Pale Ale, was originally brewed specially for the British troops in India, with the quality of its ingredients and the preservative effect of hops keeping it fresh on the long sea voyage down the coast of Africa, around Cape of Good Hope and up the Indian Ocean.
