  • Malted barley, hops, spices and even the recipe is an agricultural product used to brew Saison Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale. Saison (pronounced "say zon") ales are an essential part of Belgian brewing archeology. Historically, these ales were made in the winter by farmer-brewers for their enjoyment during spring cultivation through fall harvest. Today Belgian Saisons are produced in tiny, artisnal breweries whose charming buildings distictly reflect their origins as farmhouses.
New Belgium's effort to revive this brewing style and its particular ingredients from antiquility yeilds an ale with a sunset amber color, a poised hoppiness and, from spicing, a lively citrus character. It will be available from September until Thanksgiving in New Belgium's Special Release six pack bottle carrier.
